New EV Brands Set to Launch in Thailand by 2024

Several new electric vehicle (EV) brands are expected to launch in Thailand in 2024. Key brands and their plans are as follow:

  1. Radar (Geely)

    • Brand Name: Riddara (in Thailand)
    • Product: RD6 electric pickup truck
    • Launch Event: 41st Thailand International Auto Show in November 2024
    • Details: Radar is Geely’s electric pickup truck brand and has set up its first overseas subsidiary in Thailand to capitalize on the local demand for pickup trucks.

  2. ZEEKR

    • Parent Company: Geely Automobile Holdings
    • Launch Event: 45th Bangkok International Motor Show (March 25 to April 7, 2024)
    • Details: ZEEKR is a premium EV brand from China, introduced to Thailand by PTT’s subsidiary, Arun Plus Ltd, through Ze Mobility Plus Ltd.

  3. XPENG

    • Parent Company: Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology Co.
    • Launch Event: 45th Bangkok International Motor Show (March 25 to April 7, 2024)
    • Details: XPENG is another Chinese EV brand being introduced to Thailand by PTT’s subsidiary, Arun Plus Ltd, through X Mobility (Thailand) Ltd.

  4. Omoda & Jaecoo (Chery International)

    • Parent Company: Chery International
    • Details: Chery plans to launch two EV brands, Omoda and Jaecoo, in Thailand. The company is in the process of setting up an EV production base in Thailand and plans to start production with a capacity of around 18,000 units per year during the initial phase (2024-25).
  5. BYD

    • Details: Although not a new brand in Thailand, BYD is significantly expanding its presence with the opening of its first Southeast Asian factory in Rayong, Thailand, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. BYD plans to produce models such as the Dolphin and Atto 3 SUV at this facility.
  6. Great Wall Motor

    • Details: Great Wall Motor is planning to introduce 15 additional EV models in Thailand by 2025. The company aims to launch at least three new energy vehicle models in 2024, focusing on 100% electric SUVs.
